September Boca Knights Bugle – Welcome
With Labor Day, we are at the unofficial end of Summer. Fall and cooler weather are just around the corner and hopefully no more hurricanes this year.
Before we get caught up in the end of year holiday madness, I ask you to remember the Patriots who lost their lives on 9/11 and all the brave souls who “gave their all” both stateside and in Iraq and Afghanistan. These are still trying times for our country both domestically and internationally. Our individual actions will have an impact on the future course of this country and the world.
We have two important votes coming on November 5th. While everyone is aware of the presidential election and the long range implications it will have here at home and abroad, there is another important vote here in Florida: Amendment 4, the Abortion Amendment. The Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops opposes it. I urge you to read their message on pages 2 & 7 of this Bugle and vote No on this Pro-Abortion Amendment.
In preparation for the vote, we have our annual March for Life on Sunday October 20th between St Joan of Arc and Sanborn Square and back. See page 4 for more information.
Please note that our Officer meeting date/times have changes to 6:15 PM just before the General Meeting (typically schedules at 7:00 PM on the 3rd Monday of the month.
Remember “All Life is precious in the eyes of the Lord”. This includes the unborn, the innocent, and the troubled souls. In addition to voting No on Amendment 4, please keep the latter in your thoughts and prayers. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
We also have two pending Council Installations: St Joan of Arc [14 SEP] and Ascension [21 SEP]. See page 10 of this Bugle for their new elected Council Officers.
Planning is under weigh for our annual Veterans Day Dinner and Dance on November 9th. Mark your calendars. I encourage all of you to be there to honor our Vets.
